| Well, everyone, I got an email from the xanga team and they said that they missed me. How sweet. It's nice to know they're thinking of me. haha. It was kind of ironic though. I started looking back on everything, and it made me really want to update. I don't know why. I don't know if anyone will even read this. It'd be a pure miracle if anyone did. Now that we've all moved on to either facebook or myspace, it seems that xanga has dwindled away. That is, until they bumbard you with lovely emails tugging at your emotions. haha. Maybe that's just a little too dramatic. Anyway, life has been going well for me. I was able to get another job as a work-study here at the college. (By the way, I'm in my Windows Concepts class). I help in the Student Services department, but I'm technically the Financial Aid work-study. That's right, I help with the big bucks. I started that job in August. Then I started my Fall Quarter on September 10, 2007. We finished that quarter on November 21st, and our winter break lasted until January 7th. That was the longest, besterest break ever! I did have to work like crazy at K-mart then, however, since it was the Christmas season. You know how shoppers get at that time! Black Friday was an adventure. Getting up at 4 in the morning, walking into K-mart at 5:45 with lines of people looking at you with envy that you were let in the doors. haha. Then the managers got carts out and ready for the customers to barge through the doors and take off running with the carts. Which they did, by the way. It was too funny. This one woman had her McDonald's breakfast in one hand, and pushed the cart with her other hand. How insane! Anyway, once the quarter and break was over, I had to start back up on January 7th to begin my Winter Quarter classes. Now my Winter Quarter is nearly over. The last day is March 21st. But actually, I don't have to come all the way until then. Once we are through with finals, we are good to go. We have a week break for Easter. I'm excited for that, eventhough I know it will fly by. Since my last update, Joel and I got engaged. It was the day after Christmas, and he had this whole plan up his little sleeve. First we just planned to go see a movie. I wanted to see Alvin and the Chipmunks. That's right, we saw the most unromantic movie the night we got engaged. haha. But hey, Alvin was a cutie. Anyway, Joel said we should go to the one in Marietta because they had a better viewing time. So at 5:00 our movie was to start. We walked in the doors, and he pulled the pre-purchased tickets out of his pocket. I was confused. I asked him how he had already gotten the tickets. He tried to squirm his way out of answering for a while, until he finally told me that he knew I wanted to see it and just thought he'd surprise me with it. So that was neat. He went and got us some popcorn and a drink. The movie was great. Pretty funny. Made me want a chippy. Then we planned to go eat at Applebees with a gift card we got for Christmas. At Applebees, we ate and talked and before we knew it, we were finished eating. We were sitting there for a while, and I finally asked him if we were ready to go. He insisted that we stay for a little while. He used the excuse that his food needed to digest. HA! Like that didn't make me suspicious that he had something else planned! He asked me a few mintues later if I wanted to go to the park to drive through and see the Christmas lights. That sounded like a neat idea to me, and I agreed. So we left Applebees and headed to the park. Once we pulled into the park, Joel pulled behind a white car and parked. I asked him what he was doing. He said, "Oh, look! A limo! Let's see if he would like to give us a ride." And before I could say anything, he hopped out of the car and went to talk to the driver. I knew he had planned it, and I was a little shocked. I got out of the car, and the limo driver held open the door to let us in. It was very nice inside. Really big with lights and everything. So I was getting nervous. I was like, "Oh my gosh, if he doesn't propose tonight, he'll be missing a good chance!" haha. So we were driving around in the limo, and I was kind of in a daze between being so surprised and happy to nervous and suspicious. hehe. So we drove around the park a couple of times, then we drove around the block to see the houses that were decorated. Finally, the driver brought us back to the park where Joel's car was, and we got back in his car. We were driving back home, and we were trying to decide whether or not to go to my house or his house. He drove down my street, then we decided to go back to his house. So we turned around. (Little did I know this was part of his plan also.) Basically, the driving and turning around was a bit of a time waster. He needed to spare some time. So we were driving down Emerson Avenue to go back to his house, and he said that he wanted to stop and get a root beer from Wendy's. Well, that was nothing unusual because he always does that. He's got a thing for their root beer. Keep in mind that this was 10 o'clock at night, and the Wendy's dining area had just closed. Joel pulls in the parking lot and parks the car. I was like, "Why are we not going through the drive through?" And he said, "Let's just go in." So there I was like a head-lighted deer walking into Wendys. I looked over to the table that we had met at 3 years ago. There was a tablecloth and a bouquet of flowers in a vase. He walked me over to the table, and I kept asking what was going on. He started talking about random things. I was embarrassed because he was talking sooo loud. That was because there was his brother-in-law Bob oustide video taping it and they had baby monitors to hear the audio on the tape. Anyway, he started talking about chicken nuggets. He asked if I wanted any, and I said no. He asked if I wanted a drink, and I said no. I was sooo nervous. hehe. I had quite the idea of what was to come. We were alone in the dining area, all except the employees. They were peeking out and everything. I was telling him to talk quieter when he was like, "You know what's better than a chicken nugget?" I said no. "A gold nugget." I asked what he was talking about. "You know, like in California. Gold nuggets?" I had no clue. haha. Then he said, "What's even better than a gold nugget is a white gold nugget." I just stared at him and smiled. Then he said, "What I'm try to say is that I have a white gold nugget to give you." He pulled out the ring box, and opened it. There was my beautiful ring. He got down on one knee, held the box open to me, and said, "What I'm try to ask is if you will be my wife?" The first the I said was, "Is this for real?" haha. He said, "Yes, this is real." I asked again, "Is this for real?" He said, "Yes. Well, what's your answer?" I said, "Yes!" And he stood up and hugged me. Then the manager, Dave, of Wendys came out to congratulate. That's when Bob came in from videotaping. Then I heard the whole plan. Joel had gone and talked to another manager who said that he would have to talk to the manager Dave that would be working that night to see if we could have it there. Wendys even put on some romantic music for us. hehe. Then Dave gave us some food on the house. Woot! I didn't cry then. But when Joel and I left Wendys, it was all a reality check. I wasn't wishing to be engaged anymore, I really was! I can't wait to get married now! We are planning slowly because we still live in different states and we are both pretty busy. We are planning on getting married after I graduate, and I gradute June 12, 2009. Exciting! Well, that's all I can update about now. Class is almost over! Comment if you actually ready this. I'll be anxious to see if anyone does! I love you, Joel. Thank you so much for everything! I can't wait to spend forever as your wife! |
