First off, this gets louder, so you might want to start with a low volume. Sorry.
The drum track is about four years old. It rides the border between clever and annoying. I'd like to mellow it out and give it a less hollow sound. Unfortunately, that drum machine will only play old loops; it won't make any new ones or allow me to alter what's on it. My newer drum machine is still a mystery to me.
I've been trying to marry a particular piece of guitar music to it for about six months, except the intro which is from today. The guitar parts sound better on their own, but I can't help but feel like they should go together. It also sounds better in standard tuning, but I tuned down a whole step to the bass on the drum track. I tried a slower tempo, threw it out, then added the intro lead to the slow tempo (which I can tell has a lot of potential for expansion). Doubling the guitar made it sloppy, then I ran out of time. There are lyrics, almost spoken word, that I have to go over all of this. But it's taking a lot of sorting out. I'd rather have Lou Reed for the vocal. That would help.
I made a better version three months ago; I'm actually getting worse.
