This is the second, and my personal favorite, of three songs that I recorded in 1989 while deployed in the Mediterranean on the USS Theodore Roosevelt. The sounds are coming from a Yamaha SY-22 synth, powered by an Alesis MMT-8 sequencer. The 'album' is called "Turbine Test", which was the name of the office space on the ship where I originally did the song. I originally had some kind of anti-war lyrics that went along with this, but they're long lost and forgotten. I don't care - as cheesy and repetitive as this tune is, I still stop and dance whenever it comes up on the ol' playlist :)

dig the bassline. i have a similar alesis seq, and my V50 has remarkably simalar overall sound when recorded. i like reviewing things i recorded in the 80's for a lot of reasons. a little glimpse into your formative musicianship is great! thanks!

i've tried uploading a few old tunes, but they all ended up as transcription errors. don't know exactly what I did wrong. maybe files are too dense.

I actually remember where I was when the bass line came to me... I had the drum tracks and the organ riffs already laid down a few days before my ship pulled in to Palma de Mallorca of the Spanish coast, but I couldn't come up with the bass line. Once we got to Palma, I disembarked and was walking towards town from the pier, and it just came to me... the whole thing just formed in my head and I was able to keep it there until I got back to the ship that evening. Probably my proudest moment in my limited experience as a composer :)
