Glogster

I found a new blog-site called Glogster.
You can add, tweak and tilt - images and music on your own 'glogs'.  Glogs are art-able webpages.  Glogster's compression to xanga appears to have 'squished out' some of the text on this page.  Either, right-click and make full screen, or visit my glog to see it in full view.  I plan to edit my glog again.  I'm testing ChangeDetection to see if it's able to monitor changes on glogster.

No Matter What Happens at the Polls

CBN.com – We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.

Thomas Jefferson penned these famous words in the first months of our country’s fight for freedom from Great Britain. According to our declaration and the Bible, God, our Creator, sees us as equals and wants us all to experience freedom and joy in life. This is what I hold onto each time I step up to a voting booth, and today is no different.

Whoever wins at the ballot boxes today will take the reins as president of this great country in January. George W. will step back, and a new chapter in our history will start a fresh page. It’s a humbling task what lies before our new leader. He’ll be picking up the pieces of our fragile economy, getting our military on a good course, and leading a divided nation.

A Country Divided

Some would say our country is split down the middle between those who align with Democratic values and those who have Republican views. Based on the bickering amongst politicians and citizens alike, I’d say we’re in a civil war of beliefs. No side wants to give up their position; no one wants to compromise. To a point, that’s understandable. To rethink one’s point of view for the sake of “peace in politics” would be difficult indeed, but our nation must work together if we’re ever going to accomplish anything.

“Any kingdom divided by civil war is doomed. A town or family splintered by feuding will fall apart.”  Matthew 12:25 (NLT)

Change is good. But unless our politicians (or people) quit some of the backbiting, we’re never going to see it happen. We need integrity and hard work coming out of our nation’s capital (or us) instead of endless “debates” that only delay real action. Righteous indignation on certain issues is valid and biblical, but let's make sure that whatever we "fight" about is perfectly aligned with God's Word.

Our nation was settled as a refuge for those persecuted for their beliefs, yet we persecute each other today for our personal platforms. Wouldn’t it be appropriate for an updated version of Matthew 19:19, to say: “Love thy opposing party as thyself?”

Christians, follow Christ’s example and the advice given by Peter in the New Testament:

Be agreeable, be sympathetic, be loving, be compassionate, be humble. That goes for all of you, no exceptions. No retaliation. No sharp-tongued sarcasm. Instead, bless—that's your job, to bless. You'll be a blessing and also get a blessing. 1 Peter 3:8-9 (The Message)

At the End of Election Day

As Christian citizens, it is our responsibility to pray for our nation, more specifically our leaders. No matter who wins the presidency we will need God’s provision, protection, and guidance. Only He knows what’s ahead and we need to trust that by putting our faith in Him – and not man – the United States of America will see better days.

Putting all of our hope in one man to lead us out of a financial, political, and social mess is unwise. Moses led his people – the Israelites – out of bondage. But, he didn’t find the way out on his own. God led him to the Promised Land. May the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, lead America into our Promise.

We cast the vote, but the Bible says God determines who will govern.

So that everyone may know that the Most High rules over the kingdoms of the world. He gives them to anyone he chooses — even to the lowliest of people.”  Daniel 4:17 (NLT)

Rest assured that whoever wins this election, God will give him grace to endure the trials ahead, Truth to live by, and wisdom to lead this country. What we must pray for is that our new president receives this guidance.

The Bible says, “Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously” (2 Corinthians 9:6). The Lord surprised us. You hear a lot of strange things about tithing. Some say it is a church tax, and they expect me to pay it and that is the end of it. Others say that when I give God one-tenth of my income, He blesses the nine-tenths that is left to the extent that the nine-tenths now goes as far as the whole thing used to go. This isn’t really true, is it? Suppose a farmer had 100 bushels of corn in the barn and he decides to plant 10 bushel in the ground. What multiplies? Is it the 90 bushels that he has left in the barn? Oh, no. All of us “farmers” know it is the 10 bushels you put in the ground that multiplies. Similarly, it is the 10 percent you give to God that multiplies.

 

Malachi 3:8-10 says, “Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. But you ask, “How do we rob you?” In tithes and offerings. You are under a curse—the whole nation of you—because you are robbing me. ” I have met a lot of Christians who have curses upon them because they are robbing God. But He goes on to say, “ ‘Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,’ says the Lord Almighty, ‘and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.’ ” Upon whom will God pour out so much blessing, the church? No. Upon you, the giver.

 

 

(From one of Stanley's testimonies...) One day I got enough courage to talk it over with her (his wife). I said, “Honey, God is talking to me about a covenant I made with Him. I feel that God would have us to make Him our Senior Partner, but if we do, this means at least 51 percent of the profits would go into the Lord’s work.” As we talked it over, I asked her what she thought. She looked at me and she said, “Stanley, whatever God tells you to do, obey God.” I think this is the best advice I ever received. They say the road to success is filled with women pushing their husbands along. Men, you ought to appreciate your (Godly) wives. They have something we men don’t have. They have intuition, and if you will listen to your wives, they will save you from a lot of problems in your lives.

 

I went to an attorney and said, “Sir, I have come today to make God my Senior Partner. I would like to have you make out a legal paper that says we are turning 51 percent of our business over to God.” He looked at me and said ...
