| Jesus Was "NOT" Born in December
Does it Matter ? Jesus Was "NOT" Born in December
Does it Matter ?
"in the scriptures sinners alone, NOT saints celebrate their birthdays." - the Catholic Encyclopedia "In the Scriptures, no one is recorded to have kept a feast or held a great banquet on his birthday. It is only sinners who make great rejoicings over the day in which they were born into this world" - (Catholic Encyclopedia, 1908 edition, Vol. 3, p. 724, "Natal Day").
"(Christmas)- Such a festival came under the condemnation of Galatians 4:9-11, and should have no place in a Christian church." -Romanism vs. Apostolic Christianity, Helgerson; Dr. Ironside; (Chicago); 1919 "But now you know God... So why are you turning back to those weak and worthless beliefs? Do you want to be slaves to them all over again? You are observing special days and months and seasons and years!....I am afraid that somehow I have wasted my efforts on you." (Galatians 4:9-11)(NIRV)-BibleGateway
"the general Christian usage was to celebrate the death of remarkable persons rather than their birth." (Encyclopedia Americana, 1942, Vol.6, 623)
"...the day of one's death is better than the day of one's birth. The end of a matter is better than its beginning..." (Ecclesiastes 7:1,8)(NASB)-BibleGateway
If God had wanted us to celebrate Christ's birth - he would have recorded the date - but he didn't. But-the exact date and time of his son's death WAS recorded.
Not only is the concept "WRONG" for a Birthday Celebration for Christ - but even the date is wrong, since the Bible's account clearly shows that Jesus was born in a Warm month. The Fact that all the pagan sun-gods starting with Nimrod of Ancient Babylon - celebrated their birthdays on Dec. 25, makes the compromise even that much worse.
"Clearly, Jesus was not born in December." -- Christmas By Darren E. Mays and Michael B. Willey
How do we Know ?So many people celebrate Jesus' Birth in the Cold month of December. They don't even think about it. They just do it.
Shepherds Sleeping Outdoors at Night Only in Warmer Months.
But those who are familiar with the Bible's account of his birth, would know that he was born in a warm month, when the shepherds were still sleeping out doors at night - with their flocks.
"Carefully reading the story in the Bible, we find that Christ was not born in the winter. During the winter, it is usually cold and wet i n the Holy Land. Any good shepherd would not leave his sheep out in the elements to suffer from the cold. Look at Luke 2:7-8: “And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. Now there were i n the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night.” " -Was Christ Really Born on Christmas? By Lorelei Nettles
Also, Joseph and Mary would not have traveled to Bethlehem in the cold wet month of December. The census was always done in warmer months. "And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night" (Luke 2:8). "This simple statement from the Gospel of Luke is sufficient evidence to defeat the argument that Christ was born on Dec. 25." - Christmas By Darren E. Mays and Michael B. Willey "It was the practice of shepherds 2,000 years ago to take their flocks out into the fields during warm weather and to stay with the flock overnight to guard against predators. In December, however, it is too cold for the sheep to be in the fields and they were kept in pens." - Christmas By Darren E. Mays and Michael B. Willey "It is clear that our Savior was born before the 25th of December. At that time it is cold, and especially in the high and mountainous regions a bout Bethlehem" -noted commentator, Albert Barnes (Barnes' Notes on the New Testament, Vol. 1, Kregel Publications, 1962, p. 189). "Since the flocks were taken up in late October there would have been no shepherds in the field to hear the message of the angel of God (Luke 2:9-14) had Jesus been born on Dec. 25." - Christmas By Darren E. Mays and Michael B. Willey
Very Cold Winters in December in Bethlehem and Israel "Evidence of the harsh nature of the weather in the Middle East in December can be found i n recent history. On Dec. 17, 1992, the Israeli government banished Palestinians to southern Lebanon because of the bitter cold." - (Time, Jan. 11, 1993, pp. 10-22). "There is no certainty as to the month or day of the birth [of Jesus]. The Christmas date, December 25...was...borrowed from a pagan festival. 'December'... seems unlikely, as unsuitable for the pasturing of flocks. A more probable date - is a couple of months earlier" -(The International Standard Bible Encyclopedia, 1986, "Jesus Christ," p. 1628).A far more likely scenario is that Jesus was born in the early autumn, around the time of the biblical Feast of Tabernacles (Leviticus 23:34-36), when Joseph and Mary would have traveled to Jerusalem to keep the Feast along with thousands of other Jewish families. This also helps us understand why in the town Bethlehem, a few miles to the south of Jerusalem, "there was no room for them in the inn" (Luke 2:7)- the town would have been crowded with other travelers keeping the Feast at this time of year. Jesus Was Born in a "WARM" Month Jesus Was Born in a "WARM" Month
CHRIST BIRTH - "NOT" IN THE WINTER "And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night." (Luke 2:8)(NIV)-BibleGateway The Biblical account says that the Shepherds and their sheep were still sleeping outdoors at the time of Christ's birth. Winter-time would have been too Cold. "...the last week of December corresponds to the tenth month of the Jewish sacred calendar known as Tebeth, when there are frequent frosts and occasional snow florishes in Jerusalem..." - The Geography of the Bible; by Denis Baly JESUS WAS PROBABLY BORN IN LATE SEPTEMBER - OR EARLY OCTOBER "It was an ancient custom among the Jews of those days to send their sheep to the fields and deserts about Passover (early spring)and bring them home at commencement of the first rain... During the time they were out, the shepherds watched them night and day, as... the first rains began early in the month of Marchesvan, which answers to part of our October... we find that the sheep were kept out in the open country during the whole summer, and as these shepherds had not yet brought home their flocks, it is a presumptive argument that October had not yet commenced(begun), and consequently, our Lord was not born on the 25th of December, when no flocks were out in the fields by night. On this very ground, the nativity in December should be given up." - Adam Clark Commentary, Volume 5, page 347 "It is evident that Jesus was not born during the middle of winter, for at the time of his birth, the shepherds were living out in the fields with their flocks. As the bible says: 'There were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night" (Luke 2:8). As is well known, the shepherds in Palestine do not "abide in the fields" during the winter season because of the extreme, cold temperatures. The shepherds always bring their flocks in from the mountain slopes and fields no later than October 15th! " - Mede's Works, 1679. Discourse xlvii
THE WEATHER IN JERUSALEM / BETHLEHEM - IS BITTER COLD IN DECEMBER "Israeli meteorologists tracked December weather patterns for many years and concluded that the climate in Israel has been essentially constant for at least the last 2,000 years... "broadly speaking, weather phenomena and climatic conditions as pictured in the Bible correspond with conditions as observed today" -The Interpreter's Dictionary of the Bible (R.B.Y. Scott, Vol. 3, Abingdon Press, Nashville, 1962, p. 625). "The temperature in the area of Bethlehem in December....can drop to well below freezing, especially at night. Describing the weather there, Sara Ruhin, chief of the Israeli weather service, noted in a 1990 press release that the area has three months of frost:and in December with 29 F." Snow is common for two or three days in Jerusalem and nearby Bethlehem in December and January. These were the winter months of increased precipitation in Christ's time, when the roads became practically unusable and people stayed mostly indoors.
A common practice of shepherds was keeping their flocks in the field from April to October, but in the cold and rainy winter months - they took their flocks back home and sheltered them. "as these shepherds had not yet brought home their flocks, it is a presumptive argument that October had not yet commenced(begun), and that, consequently, our Lord was NOT born on the 25th of December, when no flocks were out in the fields; nor could He have been born later than September, as the flocks were still in the fields by night. On this very ground the nativity in December should be given up. The feeding of the flocks by night in the fields is a chronological fact, which casts considerable light upon this disputed point" - (Adam Clarke's Commentary, Abingdon Press, Nashville, note on Luke 2:8).
SCHOLARS AGREE ---
JESUS WAS "NOT" BORN IN DECEMBER "These humble pastoral folk are out in the field at night with their flock - a feature of the story which would argue against the birth of Christ occurring on Dec. 25 since the weather would not have permitted it" - (The Interpreter's One-Volume Commentary, Abingdon Press, Nashville, 1971, note on Luke 2:4-7). "Shepherds and their flocks would not be found "abiding" (Gr. agrauleo) in the open fields at night in December (Tebeth), for the paramount reason that there would be no pasturage at that time. It was the custom then (as now) to withdraw the flocks during the month Marchesven Oct.-Nov.) from the open districts and house them for the winter." - The Companion Bible, Appendix 179
"The temperature in the area of Bethlehem in December averages around 44 degrees Fahrenheit but can drop to well below freezing, especially at night. That area has three months of frost: December with 29 degrees Fahrenheit." -Sara Ruhin, chief of the Israeli weather service, a 1990 press release
Evidence of the harsh nature of the weather in the Middle East in December can be found in recent history. (Time Magazine, Jan. 11, 1993, pp. 10-22). "The news reports in Israel at the time were filled with pictures of men huddling around campfires and tents covered with snow." There would have been similar weather conditions in Bethlehem in December - in the year of our Savior's birth. Clearly, Jesus was NOT born in December. "BETHLEHEM, West Bank, Dec. 24, 2004(AP)- Several thousand pilgrims celebrated Christmas Eve in the traditional birthplace of Jesus on Friday. Many of Friday's visitors were local Palestinians, and in a cold, bitter rain, shopkeepers lamented that business remained in the doldrums." -CBS News A Merrier Christmas In Bethlehem BETHLEHEM, West Bank, Dec. 24, 2004 By HAITHAM HAMAD ©MMIV, The Associated Press.
"December - At that time it is cold, and especially in the high and mountainous regions about Bethlehem." -(noted commentator, Albert Barnes Notes on the New Testament, Vol. 1, Kregel Publications, 1962, p. 189).
"The climate of Palestine...the cold of the night, from December to February, is very piercing, and it was NOT the custom for the shepherds of Judea to watch their flocks in the open fields later than about the end of October." -(Alexander Hislop, The Two Babylons, 1959, p. 91).
"Jesus was probably not born in the winter, because "shepherds were watching their flocks by night". Shepherds only watch their flocks by night when it is comfortable outside. And I can verify that it is cold in Bethlehem in December." -December 14, 2001 "Bethlehem Christmas History; Bethlehem Past by noted author, and pastor, Mitri Raheb. author of "I am a Palestinian Christian" "November through early March is "winter" in Israel! The weather gets cold, especially at night. Often it rains--or even snows! Yet many arrive in Israel carrying luggage bulging with summer attire, reasoning that it is always hot and arid in the Middle East. So they hurriedly purchase coats and sweaters in Tel Aviv or Jerusalem so they can make their pilgrimage down to Bethlehem." -Jesus Birth; The Untold Story
"It's very cold around Bethlehem in the wintertime, especially at night, and shepherds would NOT be out tending to their flocks in December." -Enrique Nardoni, professor of theology at the University of Dallas
JESUS WAS BORN DURING THE CENSUS
Other evidence - against a December birth is the Roman census recorded by Luke. "And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered... So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city. Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem..., to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn Son..." (Luke 2:1-7). The Roman and Judean rulers knew that taking a census in winter would have been impractical and unpopular. Generally a census would take place after the harvest season, around September or October, when the weather was good and the roads were still dry enough to allow easy travel. This census "could hardly have been at that season [December 25], however, for such a time would surely NOT have been chosen by the authorities for a public enrollment, which necessitated the population's traveling from all parts to their natal districts, bitter cold, snow storms and rain - making journeys both unsafe and unpleasant in winter..." - ("Christmas at Bethlehem," Holy-Days and Holidays; Cunningham Geikie).
Did Jesus or God - Want us to celebrate Jesus' Birth ?
Evidently - NOT.
Why ? How do we Know that ?
If the date of Jesus' Birth were important then God would have had it recorded. Many events int he bible are recorded as to month and day and even the year of what King was reighning. The fact that Jesus exact month and day of birth are never mentioned in the Bible, gives us clear indication that God did not want us to celebrate Christ's Birth. "God has concealed the time of Jesus' birth. There is no way to ascertain it. Nor was it of consequence to know the time; if it had been, God would have preserved the record of it. Matters of moment are clearly revealed. Those which God regards as of no importance -Albert Barnes (Barnes' Notes on the New Testament, Vol. 1, Kregel Publications, 1962, p. 189).
Christmas has NOT been authorized by God or by Christ "Christmas is a religious holiday which has not been sanctioned by the authority of Christ." -Christmas By Darren E. Mays and Michael B. Willey
Jesus said - "On judgment day... I will reply, `I never knew you. Go away; the things you did were unauthorized.' " (Matthew 7:22,23)(NLT)-BibleGateway
"....Christmas. We find no Scriptural warrant whatever for observing any day as the birthday of the Savior; and, consequently, its observance is a superstition, because it is NOT of divine authority." -(Charles Spurgeon, Sermon on Dec. 24, 1871). Did the Early Christians Celebrate Jesus' Birth ?
NO !
"The truth is that, early on, Christians did not celebrate Christ’s birth; it was His death and resurrection that were supremely important." - Was Christ Really Born on Christmas? By Lorelei Nettles
"On your day of pagan gladness, we [Christians] Neither cover our doorposts with wreaths... You consider it a proper thing to decorate your house like some new brothel...but we do not celebrate along with you the holidays..." -(Tertullian, (A.D. 155-220), 2001, p. 1176). (quoted by David Bercot, A Dictionary of Early Christian Beliefs, 1998, p. 342). "Christmas was NOT a feast of the early Christian church. In fact the observance of birthdays was condemned as a heathen custom repugnant to all Christians," - The American Book of Days, George W. Douglas, p. 658.
Was December 25th - A Holiday when Jesus walked the Earth ?
Yes, the pagan Saturnalia was in Full Swing - when Christ was on Earth. "Early Christians were familiar with various pagan celebrations that occurred in December (but they did not participate)." -Christmas By Darren E. Mays and Michael B. Willey
December 25th was observed as a Holiday long before Christ was born. In fact, while Christ was still on the earth, both he and his early followers were witness to the Joyous merry-making of the Roman Saturnalia, that occured every December. It is certain that Jesus and his Apostles were able to see, the gift-giving, the feasting, ane the decorating of fir trees, during the Pagan Holidays of Rome. The houses were decorated with Holly, Mistletoe, and evergreen wreaths, on the very day that mankind now claims is in honor of Christ. Yet this was the pagan Saturnalia of Rome during the celebration of the sun-god "Sol". Historians of that period of time - said that neither Christ, nor his followers would taint themselves with these superstitious celebrations.
DECEMBER 25TH - A COMPROMISE WITH HEATHENS
"The important fact then which I have asked you to get clearly into your head is that the fixing of the date as December 25th was a compromise with paganism." - The Evolution of Christmas; Published in 1909 "December 25th was the day the Romans celebrated the birth of their (pagan) sun-god." -The Encyclopedia Americana, vol. 6, pg. 623. "to facilitate the acceptance of the faith by the pagan masses, the Church of Rome found it convenient to institute the 25th of December as the feast of the birth of Christ...from the pagan feast, celebrated on the same day in honor of the pagan god, Mithras..." -(Manual of Liturgical History, 1955, Vol. 2, p. 67). "In the Scriptures, no one is recorded to have kept a feast or held a great banquet on his birthday. It is only sinners who make great rejoicings over the day in which they were born into this world" - (Catholic Encyclopedia, 1908 edition, Vol. 3, p. 724, "Natal Day"). "...the day of one's death is better than the day of one's birth. The end of a matter is better than its beginning..." (Ecclesiastes 7:1,8)(NASB)-BibleGateway

| The Christmas "Fireplace" Tradition What is the Significance ? The Christmas "Fireplace" Tradition What is the Significance ?
Many religious and spiritual traditions of the world, honor fire and the role of the fire tender or fire keeper.
"Fire was sacred to the ancient Celts. The domestic hearth-fire was never allowed to die. Druids used sacred fires for divination. The hearth-fire was the center of Celtic Religious and family activity."
Historically, Santa Clause always entered homes through the chimney. Almost all children’s stories showcase Santa making a grand entrance through the chimney down into the fireplace.
"According to Christmas folklore, when Santa drops by your house to deliver his presents, he doesn't knock on your door or break any windows in the process. Instead, after landing on your roof, Santa climbs down the chimney, stuffs your stockings, places gifts under the tree and takes a quick milk-and-cookies break before climbing back up the chimney." -Can Santa really climb down the chimney? by John Fuller
The Fireplace and the Hearth - appears to be an integral part of the Christmas Tradition. People hang stockings on the chimney and often decorate the mantel with holly and mistletoe each Christmas.
Some of the Christmas Cards depict Santa Claus coming down the chimney as his means of entrance to each house when he leaves presents under the Fir Christmas Tree.
But have you ever wondered why ?
Even people that don't have a Fireplace in their home, go out and buy cardboard replicas - to use as a decoration during the Festive Season of Christmas
Let's take a look into the Fireplace / Chimney aspect of this Yuletide XMAS custom.
It appears that several sun-gods around the world consider the Fireplace to be a Sacred Altar for their element. These same sun-gods also had their birthday festivals in Decemter.
THOR AND THE "FIREPLACE"
THOR AND THE "FIREPLACE"
"Thor was the god represented as an elderly man, jovial and friendly, of heavy build, with a long white beard. His element was the fire, his color red. ...he alone among the gods...drove in a chariot drawn by two white goats called Cracker and Gnasher. He became the Yule-god and was said to live in the "Northland" where he had his palace among icebergs. According to our pagan forefathers he was considered as the cheerful and friendly god. The fireplace in every home was especially sacred to him, and he was said to come down through the chimney into his element, the fire." --Myths of Northern Lands, H.A. Grueber; 1895.
"The fireplace in every home was especially sacred to the god THOR, and he was said to come down through the chimney into his element, the fire." - -Francis X. Weiser, (Catholic Priest) Handbook of Christian Feasts and Customs (New York: Harcourt, Brace and World, Inc., 1958)
Transformation of Thor into Santa Claus "In Northern Europe One of the gods that these pagans had was a god they called Thor. Since Thor’s element was fire, he was made into the god for the Yule tide. Thor was a friendly god and during the Yule tide season, he delivered presents through the chimney because the hearth, being used for fire, was especially sacred to him." -The Origins — By Sheila Ayala Origins of Christmas, "THOR" "In a chariot driven by two goats, Cracker and Gnasher, Thor roared across the heavens causing thunder. Thor was described as heavy built, with a long white beard and was dressed in red in keeping with his association with fire. In a place called “Northland”, Thor lived in a palace surrounded by icebergs. Thus Thor was a winter god who gave people encouragement during the bleak winter months." -The Origins — By Sheila Ayala Origins of Christmas, "THOR" "In searching for a replacement for Thor, the church supplanted Thor with Saint Nicholas. In later centuries, the figures of Thor and Santa Claus coalesced." -The Origins — By Sheila Ayala Origins of Christmas, "THOR" "Santa Claus is credited with placing gifts in stockings by the fireplace and Thor is responsible for the tradition of coming down the chimney bringing gifts. Thor’s chariot is now a sleigh and his goats have become reindeers. In modern times, Santa Claus is always depicted as being dressed in red with a white beard, a remnant of the old Thor god of Yule tide. One story about Saint Nicholas corresponded with the deeds of Thor." -The Origins — By Sheila Ayala Origins of Christmas, "THOR" "It seems the "chimney tale" came to us via Thor, the mythical god of fire and lightning. Satan and Thor are symbolized by the lightning bolt (Luke 10:18). Thor’s name means "thunder". The Thor story goes like this; Most families in the pre-patriarchal Scandinavian world would have an altar to Thor – their fireplace. Every year on his birthday, December 25th Thor would come down the chimney to his altar of fire, and bring presents to the kiddies." -Santa Claus; The great Imposter by Terry Watkins "Thor was "nicknamed" "Klaus of the cinders" or "Sinter Klaus" (a.k.a Santa Claus), because it was believed he would be "singed" as he went into the fireplace." -Santa Claus; The great Imposter by Terry Watkins "The poem "The Night Before Christmas" describes Old St. Nick as: "He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot, And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot..." -Santa Claus; The great Imposter by Terry Watkins "Another of Thor’s nickname was "Old Nick." Thor also carried a "trident" – the pitchfork of Satan." -Santa Claus; The great Imposter by Terry Watkins
NIMROD AND THE FIREPLACE
 NIMROD AND THE FIREPLACE
"Santa" was a common name for Nimrod throughout Asia Minor. This was also the same fire god who came down the chimneys of the ancient pagans." -Langer's Encyclopedia of World History, (article "Santa")"Traditionally, a yule log was burned in the fireplace on Christmas Eve. The yule log represented the sun-god Nimrod " --After Armageddon -Chapter 4 Where do we get our ideas? by John A. Sarkett "So our yule log (that we burn in the fireplace) has tremendous meaning, but NOT a Christian meaning. The yule log is the dead Nimrod, human ruler of ancient Babylon, who was eventually deified as the sun incarnate, and hence a god. " --After Armageddon -Chapter 4 Where do we get our ideas? by John A. Sarkett "The real origin of Christmas goes back to ancient Babylon. It is bound up in the organized apostasy with which Satan has gripped a deceived world these many centuries! " -The Plain Truth About Christmas by David J. Stewart | December 24th, 2005 "Christmas as a pagan holiday traces back thousands of years before to a man named Nimrod, founder of ancient pagan Babylon." -Christmas Unwrapped From the History Channel by Alan Mansager "December 25th was celebrated as Nimrod's birthday. Generally, all mankind is fast asleep, dreaming this old Babylonian dream." -The Story Of Nimrod, As It Relates To Christmas And Easter by Wilhelm J Wolfaardt
Hestia and The Hearth
Hestia and The Hearth
"The Greek goddess Hestia is associated with the warmth and comfort of the welcoming fireplace. The hearth of every home honors Hestia." -Goddess Gift by Sharon Turnbull, Ph.D. Hestia, Greek Goddess of Hearth and Home "The living flame of Hestia was tended constantly and never allowed to die out. When new “subdivisions” were developed, fire was carried from the town’s hearth to light the fire of the new community, assuring its prosperity." -Goddess Gift by Sharon Turnbull, Ph.D. Hestia, Greek Goddess of Hearth and Home "Every home had a hearth that was dedicated to the goddess "Hestia". The Goddess Hestia intended that homes should be built from the center out, with the center being a hearth that contained her sacred flame." -Goddess Gift by Sharon Turnbull, Ph.D. Hestia, Greek Goddess of Hearth and Home
"There was an altar to Hestia in the center of every home...it was the fireplace, the hearth, where the family gathered to honor the goddess, Hestia." -Goddess Gift by Sharon Turnbull, Ph.D. Hestia, Greek Goddess of Hearth and Home

The perception of gnomes largely depended on whether a person was naughty, or nice." -Origin and Secrets of Christmas Elves History of Christmas and the Symbols of Christmas The Holiday Spot.com
"By the mid-1800's the true purpose of the elves was revealed by the Scandinavians. Elves - already a tradition associated with story telling and magic, assumed a new significance in the mid-1800's and their true intention began to be held as nothing else but to help Father Christmas (Santa Claus)." -Origin and Secrets of Christmas Elves History of Christmas and the Symbols of Christmas The Holiday Spot.com "Fairies are somewhat mischievous, but are the true friends and helpers of Father Christmas. It is during this period when the elves began to be referred to as the "Christmas elves", or simply "elves", and not "house gnomes" anymore. Artists such as Hansen and Nystrm completed the picture of elves for us. It is now began to be held that the elves help Santa design and make the wonderful toys and gifts he brings to children. They were said to have other duties as well." -Origin and Secrets of Christmas Elves History of Christmas and the Symbols of Christmas The Holiday Spot.com "Some elves take care of Santa's reindeer and keep his sleigh in good condition, ready to fly through the skies on Christmas Eve. Others help Santa keep his naughty and nice list in order, and some elves guard the secret location of Santa's village." -Origin and Secrets of Christmas Elves History of Christmas and the Symbols of Christmas The Holiday Spot.com
"Elves make sudden appearances in the days before Christmas, to keep an eye on all children and see which of them are behaving well and obeying their parents. They are believed to be Santa's secret agents and report their findings back to him. Children who are unkind and misbehave have their names added to the naughty list and may wake up Christmas morning to find their stockings filled with lumps of coal or bundles of twigs!" -Origin and Secrets of Christmas Elves History of Christmas and the Symbols of Christmas The Holiday Spot.com
"The elves could be helpful now. Their mischievousness, however, was still evident in the variety of stories told about them. Tales suggested that how you were treated by the elves depended on whether the person was thought to be naughty or nice! Particularly in America, the diminutive, green with pointy ears type are depicted as Santa's helpers making toys in his workshop at the North Pole." -Origin and Secrets of Christmas Elves History of Christmas and the Symbols of Christmas The Holiday Spot.com
"At one stage it was thought that the elves live in Father Christmas' (Santa's) village in North Pole. However, in 1925 it was discovered that there are no reindeer in the North Pole but there are lots in Lapland, Finland. Since reindeers draw the sleigh of Santa Claus, he must be living in an area, where there are a large number of these animals available. Since then, it is believed that there is a secret village with a secret passage, somewhere in Lapland, where Santa, his wife and his team of elves live." -Origin and Secrets of Christmas Elves History of Christmas and the Symbols of Christmas The Holiday Spot.com
"Some people say that Santa employs six elves, while others think that he has nine elf assistants. Others think that there are as many as 13 elves living with Santa to help him. Elves are the children of Gryla and Leppaludi and are very clever. They help Santa to design toys and process requests of children that are sent to them through snail mail or emails. The popular Western names of the Christmas elves helping Santa Claus are: 1. Alabaster Snowball (Administrator of the Naughty & Nice list). 2. Bushy Evergreen (Inventor of the magic toy-making machine). 3. Pepper Minstix (Guardian of the secret of where Father Christmas's village is located). 4. Shinny Upatree (The oldest friend of Santa and the cofounder of the secret village in Lapland). 5. Sugarplum Mary (Head of the Sweat Treats, she is also known as Mary Christmas. She is an assistant to Mrs Claus and helps her in the kitchen). 6. Wunorse Openslae (Designer of Father Christmas's sleigh and responsible for its maintenance. He also looks after the reindeers and it is believed that his reindeers reach speeds faster than Christmas tree lights)." -Origin and Secrets of Christmas Elves History of Christmas and the Symbols of Christmas The Holiday Spot.com "The ancient folklores of Iceland mention elves by the names of Askasleikir, Bjugnakraekir, Faldafeykir, Gattathefur, Giljagaur, Gluggagaegir, Ketkrokur, Kertasnikir, Pottasleikir, Skyrjarmur, Stekkjarstaur, Stufur and Thvorusleikir. "According to some legends and post-Christian folklore especially in Europe, elves are mischievous pranksters who make special appearances during the lead up to Christmas. For example "Albtraum" is a German word for nightmare which also means "elf dream". Earlier the word meant "elf pressure" as it was believed that nightmares are a result of an elf sitting on the dreamer's head! Today, elves associated with Christmas are symbols to remind children to be good and not naughty!" -Origin and Secrets of Christmas Elves History of Christmas and the Symbols of Christmas The Holiday Spot.com

SANTA IS AN ELF

"Santa Claus has become the most beloved of Christmas symbols and traditions. The image of the jolly old elf flying in a sleigh pulled by reindeers and leaving toys and gifts for every child is known worldwide." -Christmas on the net The Many Faces of Santa "The Scandinavian countries celebrate with an elf, called the julenisse or the juletomte who bears gifts." -Christmas on the net The Many Faces of Santa
"St. Nicholas is not only assisted by elves who work at a toy workshop at the North Pole, But St. Nicholas is an elf himself ! In the Famous Poem written by Clement Clark Moore, "The Night Before Christmas," - The poem clearly calls Santa a "right jolly old elf." "Like St. Brighid, Saint Nicholas was an absorbed pagan deity. Our modern version of this personage is an amalagation of many old personifications of a very old elf. Yes, elf. In ancient times, it was believed that an elf came and delivered gifts to those who left him porridge. Ahh...see the connection between the milk and cookie offerings left by generations of children? Indeed, the popular figure of Santa Claus actually owes more to the god Odin than he does the Christian saint called Nicholas." -Santa Claus, the Yule Elf, and Odin by Kimberly Moore. "He dresses in red, a colour symbolic of the Teutonic Alfs, or elves. He has one eye with which he can give knowledge with a single wink. He has a long white beard and hails from the ancient lands of the frozen north. The the twelve days of Yule are special to him. Nick is one of his many names. Do you see the similiarity? -Santa Claus, the Yule Elf, and Odin by Kimberly Moore.
"It doesn't matter if you are comparing him to Santa Claus, Father Christmas, whom ever. Look hard enough and you will see the pagan deity behind. As for how the Yule elf got mixed up in popular culture with this figure, it may be that it was easier to personify this as a single being. The Yule elf was not a single elf." -Santa Claus, the Yule Elf, and Odin by Kimberly Moore.
"This time of year was in many ways for the Germanic peoples what Samhain was to the Celtics, a time when magic went out into the world, freeing the dead to walk and elves, trolls, gnomes, et cetera were free to roam." -Santa Claus, the Yule Elf, and Odin by Kimberly Moore.
"Swedish children wait eagerly for a gnome (ELF) whose sleigh is drawn by goats, With his red suit and cap, and a bulging sack on his back, he looks much like the American Santa Claus." -(Barth, Edna. Holly, Reindeer, and Colored Lights, The Story of the Christmas Symbols. New York: Clarion Books, 1971, p. 49)
Old St. Nick

"(Saint Nick) or "Ole Nick" is listed among the fallen angels or devils in the Dictionary of Fallen Angels. December 25 is actually "the feast in honor of the birth of the son of the Babylonian queen of heaven, later called Saturnaha by the heathen Romans." (Gail Riplinger, New Age Versions, p. 52)

Jefferson: McFarland & Company, Inc., 1997, p. 69) "Nick or Old Nick is a well-known appellation of the Devil. The name appears to have been derived from the Dutch Nikken, the devil, which again comes from the nglo-Saxon nac-an, to slay--for as Wachter says the devil was "a murderer from the beginning." - Spence, Lewis.- An Encyclopedia of Occultism New York, Carol Publishing Group Edition, 1996 [ISBN 0-8065-1401-9]

THE EVILS OF FANTASY
"Fantasy plays an important role in any religious curriculum, for the subjective mind is less discriminating about the quality of its food than it is about the taste. Thus, fantasy is utilized as a magic weapon in Satanism. The Satanist maintains a storehouse of avowed fantasy gathered from all cultures and from all ages." -(Anton Szandor LaVey, The Satanic Rituals, p. 15, 27)

Although some of these creatures may appear cute on the surface, all of them are nonetheless demonic entities that have their origin in the occult world." -(Cathy Burns, Masonic and Occult Symbols Illustrated, p. 77) "These elves often appear to children and even play with them. "In the Germanic tradition, elves are generally evil. Creatures such as trolls, gnomes, and elves are sanitized references to demons. It was accepted by most Medieval theologians that faeries and elves were tied to the devil." -Elf and Faerie : The development of Elves by Peter van Heusden "In Germanic mythology, it is the fertility god Freyr who is linked with the elves, and they live with him in his hall, Alfheim. The Germanic elves have a lot in common with the Celtic faeries." -Elf and Faerie : The development of Elves by Peter van Heusden "A multitude of mysterious and supernatural beings had descended into Christianity from pagan antiquity, and were still coming into it from Germany, Scandinavia, and Ireland as trolls, elves, giants, fairies, goblins, and gnomes." -The Story of Civilization The Age of Faith "Nearly everybody believed in some magical means of turning the power of supernatural beings to a desired end. John of Salisbury tells of magic used by a deacon, a priest, and an archbishop. Some Carmelite monks at Bologna taught that there was no harm in seeking knowledge from devils; and therefore professional sorcerers offered their expert charms in invoking the aid of demons for paying customers." -The Story of Civilization The Age of Faith
"Dr. Stephen Langdon, one of the great archaeologists and Assyriologists of this century, said: "In my opinion, the history of man's most ancient religion reveals a rapid tendency from pure monotheism to extreme polytheism and its focus on evil spirits. | "CHRISTMAS" How Un-Like Christ !
Jesus said, "...Stop turning my Father's house into a shopping mall ! " (John 2:16)(MSG)-BibleGateway "it is better to be content with what little you have. Otherwise, you will always be struggling for more, and that is like chasing the wind." (Ecclesiastes 4:6)(NCV)-BibleGateway "Those....who buy things should not be absorbed...by their possessions. Those who use the things of the world should not become attached to them. For this world as we know it will soon pass away." (1Corinthians 7:30,31)(NLT)-BibleGateway
"Christmas" Represents the Opposite of all that Christ Taught
Christmas is not at all like Christ. In fact Christmas stands for everything that Jesus was against. Jesus emphasized living a "simple" life. He made statements showing his viewpoint about storing up material things. Jesus was not a collector of treasures. He neither gave nor received material gifts. He told people to get rid of their posessions - and instead to Follow him.
Jesus emphasis was not on trinkets and worldly goods, but rather on sharing the good news of his coming Kingdom that would rid the earth of all problems. Jesus was spiritually minded - NOT Materially minded - and he stressed the importance of his followers being just like him.
Jesus said, "Stop making the house of my Father into a house of merchandise! " (John 2:16)(AMP)-BibleGateway Jesus said, "...Stop turning my Father's house into a shopping mall!" (John 2:16)(MSG)-BibleGateway
Jesus Said - "Don't store treasures for yourselves here on earth....." (Matthew 6:19(NCV)-BibleGateway
Jesus said - "Sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor.... Then come, follow me.” (Luke 18:22)(NLT)-BibleGateway
"Be careful not to spend your time feasting, drinking, or worrying about worldly things..." (Luke 21:34)(NCV)-BibleGateway
"He taught us to give up...our worldly desires." (Titus 2:12)(NIV)-BibleGateway
"it is better to be content with what little you have. Otherwise, you will always be struggling for more, and that is like chasing the wind." (Ecclesiastes 4:6)(NCV)-BibleGateway "But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that." (1Timothy 6:8)(NIV)-BibleGateway "Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have," (Hebrews 13:5)(NiV)-BibleGateway "So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content." (1Timothy 6:8)(NLT)-BibleGateway
Worldly Possessions Are Shunned in The Bible
"For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world." (1John 2:16)(NLT)-BibleGateway
"Then he (Jesus) said to them, "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; for a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions." (Luke 12:15)(NIV)-BibleGateway Jesus Warns Us Against Materialism
Jesus said, "Stop making the house of my Father into a house of merchandise! " (John 2:16)(AMP)-BibleGateway "Then he said to them, "Watch out! Be on your guard against wanting to have more and more things. Life is not made up of how much a person has." (Luke 12:15)(NIRV)-BibleGateway Jesus said, "...Stop turning my Father's house into a shopping mall!" (John 2:16)(MSG)-BibleGateway
"Then he said, “Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own." (Luke 12:15)(NLT)-BibleGateweay "Then he said to them, "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions." (Luke 12:15)(TNIV)-BibleGatway

Christmas - The Commercialized Scam "Compulsory Giving"
"During Christmas, A heavy burden of obligations is laid on our back. A burden that can only be discharged by spending money. Lots of money." "It's a commonplace to observe that depressed people are more depressed around Christmas. It is not a naturally cheerful part of the year, as some claim it to be."
"It does not help to be forced into a round of enforced merriment and compulsory socialising. compulsory shopping, and compulsory gift giving." Jesus said, "Stop making the house of my Father into a house of merchandise! " (John 2:16)(AMP)-BibleGateway Jesus said, "...Stop turning my Father's house into a shopping mall!" (John 2:16)(MSG)-BibleGateway No Part of The World and it's Quasi-Pagan Holidays
Jesus told his followers that they should be no part of the world, just as he was no part of the world.
"If you lived on the world's terms, the world would love you as one of its own. But since I picked you to live on God's terms and no longer on the world's terms, the world is going to hate you." (John 15:19)(MSG)-BibleGateway "They are not part of this world any more than I am." (John 17:16)(NLT)-BibleGateway
"You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God." (James 4:4)(NIV)-BibleGateway "While you live in this world, live as if the world has no hold on you. The way of this world will soon be gone. I want you to be free from the cares of this world." (1Corinthians 7:31,32)(NLV)-BibleGateway "And this world is fading away, along with everything it craves. But if you do the will of God, you will live forever." (1John 2:17)(NLT)-BibleGateway

The Influence of Demons upon the Apostate Church
"God's Spirit clearly says that in the last days many people will turn from their faith. They will be fooled by evil spirits and by teachings that come from DEMONS." (1Timothy 4:1)(CEV)-BibleGateway "This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly (pagan), natural, demonic." (James 3:15)(NASB)-BibleGateway
"The Spirit makes it clear that as time goes on, some are going to give up on the faith and chase after DEMONIC illusions put forth by professional liars. These liars have lied so well and for so long that they've lost their capacity for truth. They will tell you not to get married.
